Castiel announces that he's taking Claire off to train, abruptly.

[Sneezes loudly and moans:]

Kill me.

In which

+ When Dean calls Elle, she offers to come out to South Dakota to take care of him while he's sick.  She promises to come out the next day.
+ Castiel comes by (leaving Claire to crazy nightmare world), just to bring Dean groceries, like cold medicine.  And whiskey.   Castiel tells Dean that he's making Claire face Deimos and Phobos.  They talk about whether it's the right thing, and Dean agrees with Cas that Claire's in a dangerous enough position that she has to do this.  Cas warns Dean that all the people he's becoming close to are in danger, and 'liabilities', which is frustrating to Dean, who's been trying to let himself connect to people again ever since Sylar read his soul.
+ Ruby shows up to root through Dean's things for her knife while he's laid up in bed.  He bluffs about having it, but finally has to fess up that it's gone.  She steals his whiskey and he shoots her in the spine.  It's a touching moment.
+ Dean unsuccessfully tires to convince Other-Claire that he didn't get sick from swimming in the COLD WATERS OF SOUTH DAKOTA IN MARCH.  She mothers him, and offers to have West fly her up that same night, and he asks who West is.  She promises to come cook for him, and he tells her about how Ruby dropped by for a chat.  Claire offers to take the knife, but he says it's with Sammy.  She also gives him advice on killing Ruby, like 'be faster'.  They plan to watch movies together when she comes over.
+ Spike offers to put Dean out of his misery by inviting over some evil vampires.
+ Genie helps Dean get over his sniffles with a hot bath and invites him into her bottle~  It's not as sexy as it sounds.  :(
+ Dean tells Sylar about why he's sick and his bet with Other-Claire.
+ Demon!Brooke appears, and Dean has no idea she's a demon.  They are about to get it on when he vomits on her and she freaks out and leaves.  CLOSE CALL averted.

Sam says he's going out for a drive, and Dean tries to convince him that Castiel means well and won't hurt Claire.  They get in an argument over whether or not Sam can protect Claire and Dean goes off about how Hell could break her, no matter what he tries to do.  Sam just hauls off and punches Dean in the face.  He vows that if anything happens to Claire, he'll take it out on both Cas and Dean.  He leaves.

Elle texts Dean to make sure he knows when she's coming.  He tells her that Other-Claire is there, and she tells him she canceled her trip to Brazil to come.  He feels bad, and doesn't want her to think he doesn't want to see her, but acts generally frustrating, because... he's a dude.

Other-Claire and Dean marathon stupid comedies all night, and she makes him pie.  They also sit online and mock Sylar, creating a puppet show about Captain Sylar Swallows, Lord of Sea-Men.  All kinds of magic goes down in these comments.

[Log]   Elle arrives at Bobby's, and Other-Claire enacts her brilliant plan to cock-block Dean.

[Locked fic by [livejournal.com profile] autophoenix ]  Castiel sends Claire to a warehouse to fight Phobos and Deimos and she gets trapped in a nightmare of her own construction.   Sylar kills Dean, Brooke, and Elle, Castiel kills Sylar, and then.... betrays her and she's taken to a warehouse where she's tortured repeatedly in front of Sam until he says yes to Lucifer.  DRAMA-RAMA.  Later, Claire returns from the dilemma, noticeably changed.

Dean talks to Castiel upon his return, and tells him that he fought with Sam over things.  Castiel mothers Dean about his cold, and Dean lets him know about how he threw up on Brooke.  Castiel says he's sure that she will forgive Dean.  Cas also talks to Other-Claire, who wants to help, and she says she'll ask Dean about training, though Castiel doesn't want her imposing on his time.

Dean speaks to Claire, though he avoids asking her about what happened, which she appreciates.  She asks him to teach her how to shoot, and he agrees to it, though he doesn't want to Sam to know.  Claire says she'll send him out for a pizza so that they can train while he's taking the long drive.  They banter about driving the Impala, and Dean tells her about his bet with Other-Claire.  They have a layered conversation where Dean is talking about pie and Claire is talking about Other-Claire's feelings for him.  He remains totally oblivious.  Dean offers to let her drive the Impala if she'll wash his car.

Other-Claire tells Dean that Castiel didn't tell her to scram, and he expresses some surprise at that.

Sam comes back and apologizes for hitting Dean.  They talk about Claire, and Dean tells Sammy she just needs time when he expresses anxiety that something has changed in her.  Feeling out of control of the situation, Dean pulls the convo back to the job, which annoys Sam.  Dean makes Sam promise not to push Claire away.

Dean calls Brooke hesitantly, after the vomit incident, but she doesn't remember anything about it.  He assumes Castiel mind-wiped the incident from her brain.  They talk about Dean's inability to rely on other people.  She tries to tell him he can trust people other than Sam.

--------------

Thanks for the save, Cas.  Appreciated.

In which:

+ Dean tells Sylar about the incident in question.  Sylar says he talked to Brooke, and Dean demands to know about what.  He gets pissed when Sylar says he almost told her about Sam's demon blood problem, and tells him that she's in the dark about who they are.  Sylar points out that Dean seems to really like her, and tries to talk him into telling her the truth.  Dean tells him some of why he won't, and when Sylar still pushes him, he shuts down the conversation.
+ Elle talks to Dean about staying on until Tuesday.     He tells her about his uncertainty over stopping the Devil, and then about him and Sam being vessels.  She says that she's not afraid of any of it.
+ Cas tries to tell Dean he has no idea what he's talking about, but Dean figures he's just playing the innocent angel~
+ Sam again suggests Dean tell Brooke the truth, and then they get in a huge argument about Castiel, who Sam feels murderous towards.   Sam makes it known that he's jealous of the fact that Dean can connect with Claire over this, and Dean warns Sam that he's letting his anger get the better of him.  Finally, Sam just pushes Dean too far, but he apologizes and listens to some reason.
+ Other-Claire expresses disapproval at Cas mindraping people.  Dean asks her to watch Elle and force her to watch Lizzie McGuire while he trains with Claire.

-------------

Other-Claire makes Dean waffles before she leaves.  He reiterates her awesomeness.

Castiel is taking off to go find some leads, and he invites Dean along.  Dean agrees to go with him after Elle leaves.

Other-Claire asks Dean about whether she should undergo the same training Claire did, and he protests.  He does agree to teach her things about hunting, though, when they have more time.

Sylar tries to talk to Dean about Claire's new found attitude, but Dean tells him to man up and butt out.

Brooke invites Dean to come by Tree Hill sometime.

Dean explains to Claire about the 'sword of Michael' thing.

When Future-Peter randomly shows up, Dean at first mistakes him for Peter.  Future-Peter lets him know that no, he's just hanging out in the past.  Very comforting.

Future-Peter >  [livejournal.com profile] a_grim_future

Kitty asks Dean to get another ID for her boyfriend, and he presses to find out why.  She ends up telling him about how she accidentally killed a guy, so they talk about that.  He agrees to get her the ID.   Meanwhile, Liz keeps an eye on the precedings to make sure Dean's not up to anything shady and he sets up that coffee date with her again.

Dean meets Madi, a fellow hunter, and goes to help her track down an ogre.

Madi McCoy > [livejournal.com profile] huntin_mccoy

Dean has a brief moment of semi-honesty, telling Brooke he has his head examined recently.

Anya's selling pie!  Dean buys some... and then finds out she's an ex-demon.  The conversation that follows is so surreal I can't even describe it properly, but it involves evil pie, anal play, and anti-demon fascism.

I love how every appearance of Sam in this just involves him being... a little bitch, basically.

lmfao, I know, it was fabulous. Dean was at his wit's end.

Sam just… doesn’t deal with change, okay?? And he doesn’t like anyone else being better with Claire than him. So he’ll just… go cry in a corner until this is all over.
