Just a quick fyi, not that this specifically affects anything, but so that stuff Dean says makes sense to you ooc, we've slightly AU'd the situation at the end of S5 for the verse Dean's in, so that we can expand on the Apocalypse and not have our Sam on lock down all summer, which means we're still technically between 5x21 and 5x22, and will be dragging that stuff out til fall. So Dean's had the Horsemen's rings stolen from him, and the boys'll be working on getting them back from the various people who bought them, which is what keeps them from moving on to 5x22 territory. Now would be a logical time for Dean to meet up with dad anyways, b/c he hasn't yet broken the news to Sam that the rings are gone, and Sam's girlfriend is trying to convince Dean they have to find any other way to proceed than asking Sam to do this. So he's... feeling a little adrift right now, and I can see him tracking his dad down for at least a talk.
