[livejournal.com profile] sixwordstories verse : drabble meme RP

Prompt:  In response to the drabble meme, based on the prompt "Wildly!Inappropriate Castiel".  This can only go badly.
Who:
Dean and Castiel [livejournal.com profile] holytaxexaminer )
What:  Wut oh, those wascally demons!  Castiel's been smacked with a hex that's got him acting a bit, well, strange...
When:  Friday, before Dean goes on his poker date.
Where:  North Carolina.  In the Impala.

Claire has wrangled up Sam, leaving Dean in the clear to pack on up and head out to meet up with Brooke.  Some private time with a gorgeous girl like that, a few winning hands of poker, and he'd be able to forget about the humiliation of Claire drinking him under the table the other night, at least for a couple hours.

But first he had to go grab some gas, so he left early, settling into the Impala, and turning around to look out the back window as he reversed out of the parking spot.  When he turned back forwards again, he nearly slammed on the brakes when Castiel was suddenly sitting there, out of nowhere, in the seat beside him.

"What the hell, Cas?" he demanded, trying to pretend he hadn't lost his cool, even for a moment.

(Hopefully this setup works, if not, let me know!  Sorry it took so long, I was gone for awhile tonight.)

Dean blinked. And stared at the back of Castiel's head for a good long minute.

"You wanna run that by me one more time?" he finally said, figuring he must have just heard wrong. Or maybe Cas just didn't realize what he'd said. It was possible. He was pretty naive about that stuff, for someone so freakin' ancient.

Castiel rubbed the back of his neck and continued gazing away from him. He had no idea what was wrong; but he could barely stand to be so close to the other hunter. "It was nothing, Dean."

"Right," Dean said, not entirely convinced, but definitely not about to press for details.

"So, seriously, Cas, did something happen? You don't usually swing by for social calls." A note of concern found its way into his tone, laced with irritation. Of course there'd be some kind of new cosmic chaos to contend with when he had a fun night lined up ahead of him.

"I had a run in with a couple of demons, Dean." Castiel shifted in his seat again. "It's really no bother."

"Demons, huh? Nothing you can't handle, I'm sure." Dean started the car back into gear. If Cas wanted to come along to get gas with him, he supposed that didn't matter. "Did they say what they wanted?"

"What do they always want?" Castiel replied, his tone a little icier than usual. He rubbed at the back of his neck.

The harsh note to his voice took Dean a little by surprise. After all, he'd showed up here, why get mad when Dean asked him why?

"Yeah, ok," he said, not about to push it right now. "So you kicked their butts, all's well, doesn't explain what you're doing in my car."

Castiel frowned deeply into his chest. "I am in need of company." It was about the extent of which he could explain it. The things that he was FEELING he wasn't really able to rationalize. He hadn't experienced anything akin to it.

Dean's eyebrows cranked upwards an inch, and he shot a quick glance over at Cas, not saying anything for a second. He'd never really heard him say anything like that: it was weirdly human.

"Ok. I can do company."

Castiel clutched his coat closer to him and put a foot up on Dean's seat, keeping his focus away from the hunter and out of the window. Trying not to let his mind go astray with what else he could or could not potentially do.

Shooting a funny look at Cas' casual posture, Dean started down the road, in the direction of the gas station.

"Did you wanna pop out and grab a beer or something before I go out?" He knew the angel would probably say no, but he really wasn't sure what else to offer, so he said the same thing he'd say to Sam.
